XR Avatar Scanner Puts Pumpkin Nights Guests into Spooktacular Dance Video
Groove Jones worked with Bigsley Event House and Howell Farms to elevate the annual Pumpkin Nights event at its Dallas/Fort Worth location. Pumpkin Nights is a product of Bigsley, a leading creator of experiential events, including The Color Run and Hall of Breakfast. Pumpkin Nights was founded in 2016 and is a celebration of artistry and the magic of the Halloween season, steering away from gore and scares. Thousands of guests participate in the event, which spans throughout October across various cities in the United States.
At Pumpkin Nights, guests venture along a half-mile walking path to discover seven fantastical lands, including the Forbidden Pumpkin City and Pumpkin Pirate’s Cove, built using over 3,000 artistically hand-carved real and synthetic pumpkins.
For the Dallas location, the group wanted to add a new and innovative digital feature to offer attendees a unique digital takeaway experience.
The creative concept was to bring the Pumpkin Nights’ theme and characters to life in a modern and never been done before way.
Groove Jones installed its XR Avatar Scanner to create personalized dance videos featuring the guests’ digital double alongside animated dancing pumpkin skeletons, reminiscent of Michael Jackson’s iconic “Thriller” video.
The results were a memorable keepsake that was TikTok and Instagram-worthy.

At Pumpkin Nights DFW, VIP attendees had the option to upgrade their tickets for an exclusive experience. Upon choosing the upgrade, they were invited to step into the cutting-edge volumetric 360° scanner, capturing their likeness in stunning detail.
This digital imprint created a personalized video, setting the user as the main character dancing amidst the backdrop of a Pumpkin Nights environment.
The Groove Jones volumetric 3D scanner system is at the heart of this innovative experience. This scanner creates a detailed three-dimensional model of attendees. The proprietary platform takes the scan data a step further by adapting the captured model, making it animation-ready, and then composition it into a memorable video. In a matter of minutes, attendees can receive their personalized animation, AR avatars, or interactive games that they can play with their friends who were also captured by the 3D scanner. The Groove Jones team created a wonderfully spooky world for the scene and created two pumpkin-headed skeleton dancers who delivered wonderfully whimsical dance moves. The scene was reminiscent of the Pumpkin Night trails with a full moon above.
The personalized videos are then sent to the guests via email or text within minutes so they can easily share with their friends and family.
