Groove Jones, a leading creative technology company, worked with the Spirit Halloween creative team for the fourth time to produce spooky holograms for their newest in-store displays!
Spirit Halloween aimed to create an immersive, spooky, and sometimes humorous experience inside their Spirit Hallows Cemetary. Deep within the ceiling structure of the display, hidden within the domed cupolas, are holograms that will surely provide some tricks and treats this year.

The holographic and life-like spooky characters will interact directly with customers as they pass through. The holograms are being delivered through high-end holofan technology.
Holofans are a type of holographic display that uses LED fans to create 3D images. The fan spins at high speed, and the LED lights on the blades create images that appear as floating holograms since the blades disappear when they spin.
The primary objective of the collaboration was to create an unforgettable in-store experience for Spirit Halloween customers. They sought to employ hologram technology to generate three-dimensional scenes that frighten and entertain visitors.
To fulfill Spirit Halloween’s vision, Groove Jones used Blender, a powerful 3D modeling and animation software, to design the ghostly scenes. Additionally, a circular frame was incorporated around the edge of the hologram to enhance the 3D illusion and make it seem like the characters were reaching out from the domed cupola above.
Spirit Halloween’s creative team provided detailed storyboards with specific story beats for the vignettes. These storyboards served as essential guidelines for Groove Jones to ensure that the videos struck the right balance between jump scares and fun moments suitable for customers of all ages.
