Nestle’s Cailler Chocolates VR Retail Pop-Up Stores


Nestlé, the Swiss brand behind Cailler Chocolate, is launching a unique retail experience by setting up pop-up stores in airports and shopping malls. These stores feature Samsung Gear VR headsets, allowing customers to immerse themselves in the chocolate’s rich flavors and captivating visuals.


Nestlé is on a mission to bring fine chocolates to the US. In 2015, Nestlé began selling Cailler chocolate beyond Switzerland as part of their movement into the super-premium chocolate market. What better way to make an introduction after tasting the chocolates is to give everyone a tour of where and how they were made through the power of VR.


The Groove Jones team has been asked to create a 1:30-minute VR experience utilizing 360º videos produced in Switzerland by the creative agency Jung von Matt. The videos will showcase the company’s famous factory, the cows that produce the regional milk, and the chocolatiers preparing delicious treats.

The retail pop-up stores, featuring the renowned chocolate brand, made their appearance not only in bustling airports but also within high-traffic shopping malls, drawing in curious travelers and eager shoppers alike. Each store was a hub of activity, designed to captivate and engage every passerby. Upon entering, guests were warmly greeted by a friendly and knowledgeable brand ambassador who offered them a delightful sampling of the exquisite chocolates, each bite a testament to the rich, creamy flavors that the brand is celebrated for.

Moreover, the experience was elevated by cutting-edge technology. Visitors were given the exciting opportunity to don a VR headset, immersing themselves in a virtual tour of the iconic Cailler chocolate factory in Switzerland’s picturesque landscapes. Through this virtual reality journey, guests could witness the meticulous chocolate-making process, gaining an appreciation for the craftsmanship and heritage that goes into every piece. This unique combination of physical taste and virtual exploration created a memorable and multisensory experience for all attendees, leaving a lasting impression of the brand’s commitment to quality and innovation.

“It is a unique brand and very unique product,” Sandra Martinez, head of the confectionery strategic business unit at Nestle, said in an interview. “It has a strong Swiss heritage, and it’s the oldest chocolate brand.”
