Custom VR Training Solutions

Custom VR Training Solutions for Today’s Workforce

As remote workforce training becomes a reality, XR is the future of education and training. Accelerating digitization in your training program is in demand and changes skill requirements; the future workforce requires a more active and ongoing approach to training.

Industry Stats

  • VR training reduces the occurrence of workplace injuries by 43% – Perkins Coie report, 2020
  • VR training has a retention rate of 75% beating out lectures (5%), reading (10%), and audio-visual learning (20%) – FrontCore Report, 2021
  • By combining virtual environments and repeatable and standardized interactions, we can help provide experiential learning for individual workers’ needs.
  • Benefits of XR-enabled immersive training include lower costs, increased employee engagement, and the ability to mirror real-life situations.

Below is a partial list of the companies we are working with on their XR programs.

VR for Training

License our GrooveTech™ VR for Business Platform to Expedite Your Program

We understand how powerful VR can be for training and product demonstrations. That is why we have created a platform that can be customized to meet our client’s needs. The platform is the most robust and comprehensive system available. We can design custom VR experiences built upon our existing VR for business platforms.

This gives you a robust solution without developing a platform from the ground up. Or create a SCORM-compliant system that can be integrated into your existing LMS.

We’ve designed it to be used on any of the VR headsets on the market, including Oculus Quest, Oculus Rift, HTC Vive Pro, HTC Vive Focus 3, and Pico Neo 3.

Below is a video showcasing the VR training tool we created for Ideal Industries IVRY Technology group. They are implementing the system to train and test the next generation of students interested in a career in the electrical trade.

The electrical training ALLIANCE (etA) has partnered with IVRY Technologies, a division of IDEAL Industries, to launch virtual reality training as a learning resource for electrical apprentices at Joint Apprenticeship Training Committee (JATC) centers across the United States.

“There is a significant need to create new kinds of training resources for those entering the electrical trades in order to close the ongoing labor shortage and widen the playing field within the industry,” said Doug Sanford, senior vice president at IDEAL.

The platform allows you and your team to add to your immersive training library as your program grows.

vr modules

The VR Training Program we created for IDEAL Industries won the prestigious UNITY AWARD for AEC. Creators in AEC are using the power of real-time 3D in innovative and impactful ways – from design collaboration and data visualization to interactive training and virtual showrooms.

Unity is the world’s leading platform for real-time content creation, and Groove Jones is proud to be one of the small handful of studios recognized by the 3D game engine creator in their annual awards.

Reduced Operational Costs

Organizations can cut expenses on employee travel and transporting equipment to training locations. Trainers can also be part of the VR programming using our platform, so companies can reduce faculty costs.

Increased Employee Engagement and Retention

With the ability to build scoring mechanisms and gamified levels, immersive XR training can be more engaging and fun. When trainees are connected and interested, it leads to better retention.

Mirror Real-World Situations Safely

We can create real-life situations and do it safely. Immersive learning is effective at emphasizing things through visualization. By providing environments that mimic real-life situations, employees can reach greater levels of expertise in less time.

Several of our clients are currently using the platform, and we have integrated it into various HMD enterprises for business systems.

Multiplatform XR Training

HTC Focus 3 VR Training

We can design your VR experience to work on a VR headset and a desktop computer. For example, we have created multiple VR training programs for Toyota using the HTC Focus 3, a wireless VR headset, for a premium training experience. We also created a version that can run on desktop computers. Both versions have the same content. However, by providing two different ways to access the program, we extended the reach for training to a larger audience.

Groove Jones XR for Business Case Studies

Below are some world-class brands that we continue to work with, being their emerging technology partner and innovator.

XR for Business Client: Toyota

The Machine Risk Assessment VR App allows a team member to view a large mechanical piece of equipment, like a robotic arm on the factory floor, with potential safety hazards. In each user’s session, the app selects a set of potential hazards that they can explore and assess. The App was built to randomly select subsets of risks each time a user runs the App. This introduces replayability – the user will not see the same dangers each time they are in the experience, allowing them to gain additional insight and training.

XR for Business Client: Toyota

toyota safety vrAt Toyota, safety is their priority, especially in a manufacturing environment surrounded by large, heavy equipment. To assist with this safety initiative, Groove Jones created a VR training experience that utilizes Role-based Learning (RBL). Role-based training is important for employees to understand how to incorporate safety protocols into their daily work to avoid accidents. The VR experience contains different work environments like a manufacturing plant, a parts distribution center, and administrative offices. The User confronts unsafe practices, allowing them to observe and interact with virtual coworkers engaging in unsafe practices, which can lead to accidents. The program helps users understand that their approach can make the situation safer.

XR for Business Client: Ideal Industries

Ideal Industries is using VR to train the next generation of electrical tradespeople. According to the US Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) and the National Electrical Contractors Association (NECA), the US is expected to have a shortage of electricians shortly. Statistically, the number of retiring electricians is outpacing the rate of new electricians entering the field, with 10,000 retiring each year and only 7,000 entering the field in return. As a result, this produces a knowledge gap in the electrical industry, which creates the need for additional training resources to prepare the next generation of electrical tradespeople.

XR for Business Client: Be Pro Be Proud

Be Pro Be Proud VRBe Pro Be Proud is a national non-profit spearheading the movement to bring a new generation of pride, progress, and professionals to a state’s skilled workforce. As the current skilled workforce is at or near retirement age, Be Pro Be Proud hopes to change how High School students think about these job opportunities by using exciting, gamified VR experiences.

XR for Business Client: Toyota North America

Lexus ARGroove Jones was brought on board to help the Toyota Lexus team develop an advanced AR system called the Lexus Augmented Reality Kit (LARK). This interactive application demonstrates how Augmented Reality can help with the education and training of Toyota team members to understand the features of a vehicle. The App is the future of digital user manuals for vehicles.

XR for Business Client: Wells Fargo

Wells Fargo VRWells Fargo and MKTG asked us to create 4 VR training modules that allow the managers to observe interactions between team members dealing with a customer’s needs.

Each module tests the user at the end of each module to see if the manager understands how they thought the situation should have been handled. Creating these soft skills scenarios in VR is extremely powerful as it gives the user a sense of presence and creates a connection to the scene more powerful than a traditional video training system.

XR for Business Client: Rinnai

Rinnai America hired Groove Jones to create a VR experience for DIY’ers and professional installers to see how easy it is to install a tankless water heater.

For those that have heard about tankless water systems but are overwhelmed by what it takes to install one, this VR experience is the key to overcoming those fears. In no time, you get a first-hand experience of installing Rinnai’s newest system.
